How Do I Sign Up?

Event Information

  • When I send/bring in my mower, is there anything I need to know?
    • When you arrive, we will start your mower to make sure it works. If there is a trick to starting the mower, please let us know. Also, please do not bring any mower accessories because we will not be responsible for lost items.
  • Is a self-propelled mower also considered a push mower?
    • Yes.
  • How long will the winterization process take?
    • The goal is to have all service done on the Saturday of the event and delivered back to you as finished throughout the day.
  • Who do I make the check out to?
    • Please make your $69.00 check payable to BSA Troop 97.
  • Can I write this off as a tax deduction?
    • Because we are providing a service that brings value to you, it cannot be written off as a Charitable contribution. However if you own a business and the mower is used for business purposes, it can be written off as a business expense such as Repair/Maintenance.
  • Where do the proceeds go?
    • The funds will help cover Troop 97 annual equipment cost, repair and maintenance of trailer and existing equipment, will help to provide scholarship money so every boy has an opportunity to participate in Scouting and may cover some leadership training.
  • Can I make an additional donation to the group?
    • Certainly! BSA Troop 97 is affiliated with Boy Scouts of America and our Sponsoring Organization is Hope United Methodist Church, both of which are Non-Profit 501(c)3 tax exempt organizations.
  • What do I need to do to my lawn mower before using it in the spring?
    • Nothing! Your lawn mower will be ready to mow again after our thorough service is completed.
  • Can I bring in my riding mower or lawn tractor?
    • No, sorry, we cannot service these larger items.
  • Can I bring in my snow blower, reel mower, electric mower, edger, leaf blower, or any similar item?
    • No, sorry, we cannot service these items at this time.
  • Can I bring in extra blades for sharpening?
    • Yes, we can sharpen blades for $5 each.
  • My mower needs a new blade, filter, or other component. Can you provide this service?
    • If time permits, yes. You must supply us with the part(s), and we will do our best to perform the service. Please have them ready at time of pick up.
  • My mower doesn’t work. Can I still get it winterized?
    • We will not service any lawn mower that does not start, unless it is specifically requested by the owner. In that case, we cannot take responsibility for the lawn mower’s functionality.

Pickup & Delivery

  • How do I request a pickup?
    • If you live within the Anthony Wayne Local School District Area, fill out our web form.
  • What is the deadline for requesting a pickup?
    • Please contact us by November 4th. We need this information for scheduling and logistics.
  • I requested a pickup. When will you be coming?
    • We will be there according to the following schedule:
      – Monclova/Maumee – Thursday, Nov. 9th between 5:30 PM and 9:00 PM
      – Waterville/Perrysburg – Friday, Nov. 10th between 5:30 PM and 9:00 PM
      – Whitehouse/Neapolis/Swanton TWP – Saturday, Nov. 11th between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM
If we cannot make it we will call you to arrange a different time. Please be patient if we have not come yet. Our scouts and volunteers are working hard to get to all the houses in an efficient manner.
  • Can I request a specific time for my pickup?
    • For logistical reasons, we would prefer to stick to the pre-arranged schedule. Note however, we can arrange to pick up your mower even if you are not at home.
  • I requested a pickup but no one called me back. What should I do?
    • You should have received an email confirming your order and pick-up date/time. If you did not receive this email after completing the mower service form, please double-check your spam filter and if still needed, please contact us via email.
  • When will my lawn mower be returned?
    • We will deliver lawn mowers as they are completed, beginning on Nov. 11th. We will drop off the mower where designated if you are not at home as well.
  • What if I will not be home when you come to pick up or deliver my lawn mower?
    • Please leave the lawn mower in a location where we can easily find it, such as behind the house. Attach a check to the lawn mower, payable to BSA Troop 97, for $69 per mower. We will leave a receipt with your mower number(s). If you are not at home when we return your mower, we will leave it in a similar location.
  • I have three or more mowers. Can I get a multi-mower discount?
    • We offer a $5.00 discount for the third mower and every mower beyond that picked up at the same time.
  • I missed the deadline for requesting a pickup. Can I drop off my mower, then have it delivered back to my house?
    • Yes! We can arrange to deliver your mower for the usual $69 that includes delivery charge for those within the Anthony Wayne Local School District Area.
